Today there are many approaches in linguistic science. The ideas and research methods are changing. Previously, grammar was the basis, it was impossible to break the rules. An anonymous author supports this idea in the article.
The author supports his idea by telling that pupils guess the answers in multiple-choice tests instead of learning, so studying turns out to be ineffective. The second thesis is many people face problems with writing forms of communication. For this reason, they sometimes don’t get jobs, don’t find compromise with business partners, cannot compile news reports properly. One more mentioned argument is following definite rules helps us to keep the house and other routine things successfully.
In my opinion, the importance of linguistic rules is greatly exaggerated, that is why I cannot fully agree with the author. The main reason for my view is nowadays we can find information quickly without learning by heart. The internet allows us to get any grammar rule, date, biography in a second. The next reason is using simple and easy constructions in your language is in trend. As, political commentator, George F. Will said: «A successful president who proved brevity is best». That`s why the more compactly statements you use the fewer mistakes you make. Finally, sometimes people lose their uniqueness and identity doing their best organizing their ideas correctly.
Summing up, both author and I have reasonable arguments. Making grammar mistakes is not proper, and if you are able to speak and write accurately – do it. But I`m still positive about creativity and originality are the keys for success.
